Come into our warm and cosy distillery, hang up your coat and enjoy a gin and tonic. Once you’ve settled in let us tell you a little about gin and about the history of distilling in Aberdeen. We used to have several working distilleries in the city. The last one closed 75 years ago and there mark has almost (but not quite) been forgotten.

Ministill close

Then we’ll move through to our bonded warehouse and show you how we distil our gins at the distillery. We’ll explain the process and answer any questions you may have.

Next you’ll find a seat at the gin making bench and we’ll help you decide what flavour of gin you want to make. You’ll be able to choose from around 100 botanicals in our botanical garden and our master distiller will be on hand to answer your questions and help you make a great gin.

Everyone gets to operate their own mini-still and you’ll load it up with your botanical mix and base alcohol. The distilling process will get underway and while that’s carefully supervised by our master distillery – you can sample from the current range of demi-johns – or have another gin and tonic.

Once the distilling has completed, we’ll help you cut your spirit down to your chosen bottling strength. Again, it’s your gin so it’s your choice.

You’ll bottle and cap your gin, then apply your own label to complete your creation. The finished bottle of gin is a full sizes 70cl bottle. No half measures here.

We complete the experience with a surprise to celebrate your elevation as Aberdeen’s latest distiller.

The event is approximately 3 hours and takes place at City of Aberdeen Distillery.
