We support the local community and charities

If you'd like to enquire about a donation, please feel free to drop us an e-mail from your registered charity e-mail domain (be sure to include your charity registration details) and we'll be very happy to consider your request.

Please note: requests for charitable donations from social media / personal e-mail addresses will not be considered.

While we receive a lot of requests for donations from charities and good causes, we love to support local communities and charities where possible.  Please however bear in mind that we are a local business owned and run by Dan and Alan - we are a small business rather than one backed by wealthy international investors so donations may not always be possible.  Having said that, we do have another option that is open to everyone...

Collaboration opportunity

We want to help the community as much as possible, so we have introduced a new way we can work with Charities.

Have you considered having your very own charity gin?

How does it work?

In a nutshell, we can supply bottles of our classic Fresh Gin that features a custom label e.g. charity designed label, which we can print and cut in-house.

These bottles would be purchasable (potentially at a lower cost) which can then be sold to venues / individuals as a way to generate additional money for charity.

In this scenario, we would produce the gin, labels, tissue wrapping, custom tissue seals and we would provide to you bottles of branded gin, thus allowing you to generate money for your chosen charity.  We have templates (AI) available should you wish to create your own bottle design.

We typically offer normal sized 70cl bottles, but we can also create customised 5cl miniatures (and even 20cl  and 50cl).

Why is this better than a donation?

As a small business, we can't offer unlimited donations, plus not everyone will be eligible for a donation.  Whereas creating a bespoke charity bottle is open to everyone with a minimum initial order of just 6 bottles.  You support both a local business and use your gin to create the attention your charity deserves.  We also promote your charity on our socials.

Can you give examples of how we can make money for our charity?

  • Auctions
  • Raffles
  • Collaborations with bars, companies, individuals (your logo, their logo)
  • Special fundraising cocktails at local bars
  • Host a gin tasting or food pairing event
  • Shops / distributors
  • Other sales

Having your own gin is great for fundraising, raising the profile of your charity's goals, awareness and engages your audience in a fun way.  You're also working collaboratively which may bring further connections and opportunities.

Example

For example, Aberdeen Chorus of Sweet Adelines, had their own Chorus Gin which helped in their fundraising efforts to allow them to travel and complete in Kansas City, US and represent Aberdeen on the global stage.  They chose 70cl bottles but then at Christmas also had their custom miniatures inside box crackers for Christmas which really excited their audience and was a bit hit.  They achieved their financial goal and were able to compete in the US.

Why choose City of Aberdeen Distillery?

All of the gins are proudly distilled right here in Aberdeen, using premium organic alcohol.  We're locally owned and run.  We also produce a range of award winning gins.

Community gifts / upcycling

We love to encourage upcycling - it's a great way to reduce waste and give items a second lease of life through upcycling.  We typically don't charge anything for upcycling items and it's great when we can support charitable projects.  We only ask that you collect from the distillery and send us a photo afterwards of what you made so we can inspire and encourage more people to upcycle.

For example, we had a heavy duty wood transportation box that could have just been thrown away and added to landfill.  Instead, this box (and others we had) were upcycled into tree planters for community gardens in Aberdeen as part of a charity project.

We also have large metal containers (1m3) which are caged to securely hold an inner plastic liquid container.  Once the containers are empty, they are waste to us.  Again, these could have gone to landfill but that didn't sit well with us, so we always search for ways to reduce waste and give any items a second chance - especially since these are heavy duty items.

By engaging with the community, our metal containers have since been upcycled to storage e.g. chicken feed, water (capturing rainwater for gardens to reduce water usage), wood blocks to keep dry etc.  If you're interested in acquiring any of these, please scroll down below to see what's available and drop us an e-mail if keen.

These upcycled items could then be sold to help raise money for charity.  We'd love to see these converted into a comfy chair, plush kennel, PC station, gin bar, tree planter, garden table, mud garden, parcel safe place, storage shed, sunken garden furniture - the possibilities are endless.

If you're more on the crafty side, and since we are constantly distilling, we have empty juniper sacks available which make a great material for adding texture and authenticity to your projects.  They can also be useful for gardening projects.

Occasionally, we'll also have spare high quality pallets.
